I mean if you're readng this and you do not yet have copy clip installled, please do it now. My astoundment stems from my totally forgetting about thse college days when in a matter of seconds, a twety-nine page research paper could be gone with no chance of retrieval all because I copied to clipboard, deleted one graphic from the paper, accidentally copied a second graphic to the clipboard and POOF!! - 29 pages gone forever. It is like I no longer write, create or design in fear of losing stuff. No kidding! My copy clip is set to temember the last 80 items I copied to clipboard. It's on Setapp but should be given the boot.I was simply astounded when I was asked to do a review for Copy Clip! The invitation took me back to a time "pre- CC" when I didn't have the ability to see any history of my clipboard, let alone the power to go back and paste a clipboard item that I copied to the clipboard but have copied 79 items since. I don't even understand how he has the stones to still be taking money for it. The dev doesn't fix anything, ignores messages and announced version 3. It's broken, unusable and will lose your data. Whatever you do, do not bother with Rocket Typist. If you don't need variables or other more advanced features, that might be all you need.

It lacks some basic features to make it a full fledged expander at this point IMO, but the dev is receptive and willing to add features users request.Īlfred and Raycast (I believe) offer basic text expansion. That said, it's a reputable option, and I use it myself. I've contacted the dev a couple of times and never got a reply FWIW. For version 3, the dev entirely redid the UI, and not for the best IMO. The UI really needs to be updated IMO, though.ĪText: I liked version 2. Typinator: I don't have a ton of experience with this one, but it has a great reputation. It's not bad at all but needs a bit of a facelift. The next major version (7) is in the works, and will hopefully offer some improvements in the UI department. Maybe more importantly, the crew behind it (a father and son) are great. It's great and offers features not offers on others. Typeit4Me: The original expander, I think. TextExpander: The reference, but is also subscription based. There are also a lot of option in that segment. If your workflow just requires that you paste set onto forms, text expander are great and very powerful as they allow variables, very handy when something in the text changes (names, date, etc.). Note that Paste uses a subscription model, or it also available on Setapp (also subscription). Options include Paste, Paste Pal or Pasty, Macy or Copy Clip. If your workflow requires your remove text from one doc to paste it another another, clipboard manager might be more appropriate.
